In this project I did a new hypothetical identity for perfume Narcisse Noir (1911) by Caron. It consists of a new package design, logotype, bottle and poster.
The creators, Félicie Wampouille and Ernest Daltroff, was a duo with visions of groundbreaking and brave perfumes. Narcisse noir was described as an ambivalent perfume with both light and darkness, mystique and sensuality. In my interpretation I chose to break down the name, black narcissus, and the greek mythology about Narkissos who was enchanted by his own reflection. In the end he couldn’t break the spell, and he later transformed into a black narcissus.
This is what I chose to focus on in my hypothetical identity. She, Narcisse Noir, is not only beautiful and elegant. She is also complacent and capricious. She’s a femme fatale who only cares for herself, but she lures you in.
