Antibiotics is a project created by Annabella Gustafsson and myself during a course at Beckmans College of Design. We created a poster based on the Nobel Prize in medicine 1945. This was given to Sir Alexander Fleming, Ernst Chain and Howard Florey for their discovery of antibiotics. We wanted our poster to visualize the complexity of today with antibiotics.
Ever since the discovery of antibiotics we have saved millions of lives and eliminated a lot of death causes, the world would not be the same without it, but today we also have the problem with antibiotic resistance. If we use it too much, and too often, the protection becomes ineffective. If we don’t use antibiotics responsible we will face a future very similar to the history we left behind: one where a simple fever, or a blood infection, or a pelvic inflammatory disease, becomes deadly. We chose to visualize this complexity with a metaphor in our poster. Antibiotics is risograph printed on A3 paper.
